Overview

This position will be responsible for the systems management of IBM Power 10 (iSeries AS400) servers in an HA environment.  In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and functionality of the AS400 system, including all devices and systems that are attached to it. You will work closely with the Infrastructure, Development and Support Services teams on completing projects to maintain and upgrade the system, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to application administration and monitored AS400 system access.
  • Formulate and install  AS400 performance enhancement and tuning processes.
  • Evaluate and document system processes, work summaries and technical issues.
  • Repair and resolve system break issues relating to iSeries hardware components.
  • Administered, managed and maintained Web Sphere applications systems and HTTP servers.
  • Analyzed end user and software programs, connectivity issues and application errors.
  • Manage the relationship with IBM, along with product and service providers that are  hosted in the IBM environment.
  • Evaluate, administer and implement information service products in AS400 and client server domain.

 

Qualifications

  • Candidate will need to be fluent in but not limited to:

    • OS400, patching, and configuration, LPAR management
    • Apply IBM PTFs, and experience with IPL
    • Experience in routine AS400 performance enhancement and tuning processes
    • IBM Navigator
    • Apache server configuration and administration
    • Resource management
    • Change Control & Management tools such as Turnover, iSeries FTP, Telnet
    • System backups and products such as BRMS
    • Experience and able to use HA products such as iTera or Mimix for environment roll swaps.
    • Performs disaster recovery set up, planning and testing
    • Comfortable monitoring system resources and subsystems.
    • Ability to diagnose system level errors though message handling for active jobs
    • Administration of Spooling & printing
    • Understanding and at times admin of User and group profiles and elevated access
    • In-depth understanding of System Values in IBM i for Power 10
    • Administers IFS setup, directories and access.
    • Comfortable with DB400 databases and IBM Sequel for general support
