Overview

The Network Administrator’s role is to plan, organize and to ensure the up to date, secure and efficient operation of the organization’s network infrastructure & services. This includes responsibility for keeping current with network hardware, software, firmware, operating system levels, network security practices, as well as operating in an optimal manner.

Responsibilities

STRATEGY & PLANNING

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration.
  • Oversee all reports and documentation related to supported systems.
  • Develop proactive maintenance schedules for network equipment.
  • Develop Disaster Recovery plans, procedures, and processes for network area.
  • Created and maintain the enterprise’s security architecture design.

 

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all network equipment.
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
  • Oversee projects and project portfolio for network area.
  • Design and enforce request handling and escalation policies and procedures.
  • Manage all network security solutions, including but not limited to firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs and UPSs.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights.
  • Perform server and security audits.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot LAN/WAN/WLAN related issues.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
  • Select and acquire additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security.
  • Responds to all system security weak points and partners with other team and third party vendors to resolve security issues.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

FORMAL EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION

  • Four (4) year university or college degree in the field of computer science and/or seven (7) years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in any areas of Information Technology are desired.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Casino gaming environment/Hospitality Industry experience desirable.
  • Experience with Cisco hardware/software is required.
  • Experience with information security hardware/software is desirable.
  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience with compliance of PCI/DSS.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
  • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
  • Experience with network and system auditing and security assessment techniques.

 

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • At least 5 years’ of hands-on experience with the following techniques:
    • Cisco Routers/Switches
    • CheckPoint/Cisco ASA Firewalls
    • Knowledge of switching & routing protocols
    • Expertise in working with DNS, DHCP, SNMP
    • VPN/SSL Proxy
    • Wireless Technologies
    • IPS/IDS
    • Tenable/Nessus and Vulnerability Scanners as a general practice
